Why You Should Be Playing Steffany Gretzinger’s Album During This Pandemic

Peace and Calmness is what oozes out of this new album by Steffany Gretzinger. I haven’t been able to stop listening to this album.

What I love most about it is that there are no theatrics. The piano so beautifully played allowing for pure reflection over the words that are being sung. It’s not loud, pumping or chaotic but just so calm and in the midst of this pandemic it is music like this that we at times need to turn to.

But what stands out more are the beautiful lyrics in the songs. One of the standout songs (and my favourite) is “No One Ever Cared for Me like Jesus”. A song that talks so beautifully about the faithfulness of Jesus and how our JOY is rooted in Him and Him only. I love this song because it just reminds me that even though we may be in a season of uncertainty my JOY will be rooted in my love for Jesus and that He is more than enough for me.

Another lyric that stood out to me on this album was from the song “This Close”.

Steffany sings “Hold my face if I should wander, if my thoughts are far from home. If my faith is going under, remind me I am known

And this lyric stood out to me because in this season, people may feel as though they are not known, BUT I just want to remind people that they are known. You may be in isolation and feel alone but you are known. The bible says in Isaiah 49 v 14 – 15:

Yet Jerusalem says, The Lord has deserted us; the Lord has forgotten us. Never!! Can a mother forget her nursing child ? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne ? But even if it were possible, I would not forget you!”

Forever Amen is an unbelievably stunning album and I pray that it helps you find peace and come closer to Jesus in this time as it has done for me. Allow yourself time to soak into the beautiful melodies and captivating lyrics.

Much Love, Ronia
