I can’t believe that this is the end of 2015! 2016 is this week and I AM SO EXCITED! I have so many personal life goals as well as fitness goals! I am already imagining myself in summer … shorts, cool tee, snapback & Nike pumps. Is it June yet someone!
Anyhow this past year I have had a lot of people really talk to me about breakfast. It’s funny how this one little meal has caused so much controversy, discussion and debate down my work corridor or in people’s lounges! Some of you hate it, some of you love it, some of you think it’s due to be eaten at 1pm! Eating breakfast is one habit you definitely should take into 2016! It has completely changed my life!
So why say yes to breakfast:
- Fuels your body
- Kick starts your metabolism
- Reduces hunger throughout the day
- Lowers cholesterol levels
- Gives you more energy
- Reduces obesity
- Increases brain function
- Reduces risk of diabetes
- Helps with weight control
In the past I NEVER ate breakfast at all. I would usually snack on really unhealthy foods at about 11am. Those of us who tend to skip breakfast tend to then reach for something that is the most convenient thing to eat at around 11-12 midday. The thing that we tend to reach for is normally high in sugars and low in nutrients.
However now that I plan and eat breakfast, I completely eat much more healthier and strategic. I also tend to not be hungry till lunch time and I also intentionally carry healthy snacks such as fruit with me. The greatest change and benefit that breakfast has had for me personally is that my energy levels have increased drastically! I am rarely tired and exhausted and starving! The other thing I have noticed is that I have good maintenance of my weight! I feed my body the right balance of nutrients at the right intervals. My body never thinks it’s starving! These are some of the benefits I want for you to have!
So today as we go into a new year and you either embark or continue on your fitness journey I don’t want this one little thing to hold you back. If you really struggle in this area the key is finding what you enjoy to eat and planning your breakfasts around that. You need to make breakfast intentional. To help you out I have included a picture of the breakfasts I LOVE!
